Would you agree that now is the most partisan time in American politics since WW2?

And if so, what would you attribute it to? It seems every election cycle, the fighting is getting nastier. I don't know when it starts, but ever since I started voting in 2000, the attacks are more personal and uglier. Compare Bush to his dad. People were angry because Bush 41 raised taxes. People blamed Bush 43 for deliberately staging the 9/11 attacks. Holy ****. Same with Carter and Obama--people called Carter an idiot, and they call Obama "Stalin," an "abomination," and demand to see his Birth Certificate. There's nothing wrong with a healthy democracy that allows scrutiny of its political elite, but has it gone too far? I tend to think so, then again I am not a member of either party. I wonder what more partisan people think of this.
