What's the point of 19+ clubs?

I'm turning 19 in a little over 2 months, and I was wondering if bouncers check the birthday month on id's. I mean..its a 19+ club...what's the point of not letting an almost-19-year-old in? There's no alcohol either way. Do you think they'd let me in if I showed them my ID?
