How can we use travelling microscope to measure refractivee index of a gl slab?

Mark a point on a piece of paper.Find its height using travelling microscope.Then place the gl slab on the paper.the point mark appears to be raised.Find the height again.Then n=real depth/apparent depth.Put the values &find n
