Love my boyfriend- but he has left. Help!?

had a very heated argument with my boyfriend last week, he described me as a volcano erupting and then finished it with me. he says he hated my behvious. We have an on off relationship, we are a cute, soft couple together, loads of appeal and affection. I adore him. However, i am very emotional and he hates it, walks off, distances himself, either asks himself for some space or dumps me. This time is different he said to me it doesnt work i want some time alone for a few weeks. What does that mean? SOme of my friends say he is just being kind to get rid of you as I have been constanly pestering to talk to me. But in my heart i feel like he is coming back if i change and prove that i can control my emotions and not behave like that again. One min im upset thinking he will never come back and i should be trying to move on and not wait around? My mum thinks he will come back otherwise he wouldnt have text me to tell me i think you need to concentrade on your behaviour and your emoitional state. Help i dont want to lose him, but at the same time not moving on is killing me. My friends are tryig to get me to wake up to myself and value myself and not just wait for him to change his mind. Help!!
